by Ishpal Kaur - Thursday, April 8, 2021, 10:34 AM

Greetings members of the NYTS community:

Recently, there have been a number of Financial/ Employment Scams targeting NYTS students. Some are even being sent from dummy NYTS email accounts and they look very real.

Watch out for over payment scams. These are often posted by someone posing as a IRS Helpdesk, administrative assistant, etc.,

For Reference, Email such as :

After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity, we have determined that you are eligible to receive an extra tax refund of 944.79USD Please submit the tax refund request and click here by having your tax refund sent to your account in due time.

These emails are fraudulent and can defraud you out of thousands of dollars.

Please NEVER click on CLAIM YOUR REFUND/OFFER NOW or ANY CLAIM MONEY and also NEVER provide any personal information especially your social security number, date of birth or financial information via email or telephone. NEVER send money as no legitimate job offer will require you to send money.

Note: Beware! Don’t be a victim of such fraud. New York Theological Seminary is not responsible for any such CLAIMS/SCAMS.
